Terri has been a student of dance since she was 3 yrs old. She began her preschool dance training at the Ella Ilse School of Dance in Corpus Christi where she went on to become an original member of the Corpus Christi Ballet Theater. As a member of the original company she danced in the company’s first production of The Nutcracker, as well as a production of Peter and the Wolf for PBS. While she studied under Ella Ilse, she also trained under Cathy Bradford Jones, Larry and Bettye Roquemore & Nancy Sulik. While growing up in Corpus, she was also a member of the King High School Royalette drill team for 2 years and was a cheerleader during both her Freshman and Senior years. Through high school she also enjoyed performing as a member of the St. John’s UMC liturgical dance group. She continued her love of dance at the University of Texas (Austin) and took dance classes each semester while working on her degree in advertising.

After graduating from UT, Terri worked for several years in the advertising dept of the Austin NBC affiliate, KXAN (ch 36). She and her husband spent a brief time in North Carolina where she worked as the advertising traffic manager for Horizon Cable TV Advertising (Greensboro, NC) and in advertising sales at the Durham Times Herald. When she and her husband decided to return home to Texas, she also decided to become a stay home mom to her 2 children. During this time of her life, she was a busy church and school volunteer, serving in such roles as the PTA Membership Chairman and Career Week Chairman. Her favorite position was director of the Art Masterpiece program at her neighborhood elementary school where she shared her love of art with both the volunteer parents and the students. She also worked part-time as a substitute teacher.

Terri was an assistant instructor at Southlake Dance Academy before becoming the lead teacher for all 3 year old classes. She was also the office manager at SDA for 2 years and enjoyed the daily administrative duties. She followed up her SDA teaching experience with Dance For Joy, a preschool dance program. While she was with DFJ, she taught 3-6 year olds at both the Hidden Lakes and Southlake Primrose locations.

As an adult she has taken class at the Dallas Ballet Center, Rowland-Ballard School of Dance (Kingwood, TX) and Southlake Dance Academy. She’s been married for over 25 years to her husband Bill and she’s the mom of 2 teenagers, a son who’s a sophomore at SMU and a daughter who is a senior at the Ft. Worth Academy of Fine Arts. When Terri’s not teaching dance, she enjoys traveling with her family, rag quilting, working part-time for Cabot Creamery and catching up with friends on Facebook!
