MELINDA SEIBERT

Texas born and raised, Melinda May Seibert, now lives in Tennessee. She and her husband, David have been married for 25 years and have three children – Preston (21) who lives in Waco, Texas; Brandon (18) recently graduated, and will head to Baylor in the fall; Stephanie (12) is homeschooled. Her family is of utmost importance to her.

Leadership and performance are two of Melinda’s areas of expertise. From age five she spent time at her aunt’s dance studio learning dance, twirling, tap, ballet, vocal training, public speaking, and overall performance. She was Drum Major for her Junior High and High School. After graduating in 1977 from Crosby High School as Valedictorian, she then went on to Texas A&M University where she graduated Cum Laude with a BBA in Business Management.

Melinda was considering accepting a management position with an oil company in Texas, but a month before graduating someone recommended she audition for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She had not even considered this, but immediately knew this would be right up her alley – for she knew of the character of the organization and the opportunities to serve and grow as part of the world-renowned DCC! She missed her graduation ceremony for the auditions in 1981. Trying out with 2,000+ other hopefuls, she stood out and made the squad, and for the next three seasons loved performing and representing the Cowboys Organization. She was a Group Leader, selected to be on the elite Show Group and traveled on five USO/DOD tours. She was honored to be on the cover of the 1983 calendar and was highlighted in the nationally distributed Parade Magazine.  She was a spokeswoman on commercials, at telethons, and also sang on the USO tours.

Following her time with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Melinda spent 17 years as a stay-at-home mom. All the while, God developed her heart and character and used her gifts in leadership to take on many positions in volunteer and ministry endeavors. She even helped organize, with Athletes in Action (a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ), a clinic for young girls – teaching dance and sharing her faith. She invited other former Cowboys Cheerleaders to join in this.

From 2004-2008, Melinda was on staff at Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, Tennessee as their Director of Women’s Ministry. During this time, she was part of a team traveling to Liethnom, Sudan to help serve the women and begin a women’s ministry effort there. She stepped away from this position in 2008 to be back home for her son’s Senior year and to home school her 6th grade daughter, Stephanie.

The dancing continues in her household as Stephanie, too, has been in dance since age five. Stephanie and a friend were the 2008 National Build-A-Bear Dance Contest Winners in the 9-12 year old division. Most recently she was selected to be part of ‘Team NCM’ – a dance/singing/acting background group of young people for Christian artist Nicole C. Mullen.

Melinda is a proud Board Member and Business Consultant for Studio A.
