Kayla Giard

Kayla Giard was born in Dallas, Texas and has been dancing for over 18 years. She is classically trained and graduated in the advanced level through the Vagonova syllabus but also enjoys many other styles of dancing. She has trained at various studios in the DFW area as well as attended many summer programs under the instruction of some of the best teachers and choreographers in the country such as Suzanne Farrell, Kevin Mckenzie, Julie Kent, Fernando Bujones, John Magnus, and many others.

Kayla is currently the youngest member of Metropolitan Classical Ballet under the direction of Alexander Vetrov of the Bolshoi Ballet and Paul Mejia of NYCB who studied closely under George Balanchine. Kayla has been awarded various scholarships and trainee offers all around the country. Kayla was also personally recruited by Ballet Master Ceyhun Oszoy at the Joffrey Ballet in New York City. She has performed many soloist roles and was in the US premiere of Anatoly Emelianov’s production “The Time”.

In 2006, she won Miss Jr. Texas Teen in the Miss Junior America Pageant and was crowned first runner-up in the national Miss Jr America pageant.

Kayla has modeled since she was a child with such agencies as Campbell and Page Parkes with commercial, acting, print, and runway experience. She has been featured in numerous print and newspaper articles and has had a chance to work with many of the top photographers in Dallas.

Kayla has also worked for 5 years at the Dallas World Trade Center for Fashion markets. She modeled and represented various lines including Junkfood, Lucy Love, Erge Designs, and many others. This gave her great insights and skills in both representing a brand and dealing with buyers.

More recently, she has been working in film and was nominated for ‘Best Action Female Talent” in the 2010 Cache Awards held in Dallas, Texas. She has done work on “Chase” and on "Good Christian Belles", an ABC series, set to premiere in the beginning of 2012. She was also a featured model in a commercial for “The Meal Movement” which aired nationally. In 2009, Kayla had the pleasure to work with Titan Moon on one of their 'Film Black' music videos.

Kayla was also a principle dancer in the documentary “Dance Pix” under the direction of Rusty Hann which is set to be released in the upcoming summer of this year.  Kayla is excited about her first season at Studio A!
