Andrea Hatchett (Instructor / Client Care Coordinator) Miss Andrea joined the Studio A Dance team with 15+ years of experience in dance, vocal performance, theatre and the film industry.

She began her love of dance at the age of 7 under the instruction of Francis Lee where she studied Tap, Ballet and Jazz. During this time, she found that she had a passion for precision and technique which led to her auditioning for ARLINGTON STARS, the competitive Junior Dance Team that won competitions/awards throughout the metroplex. At the age of 8, she was chosen to be the youngest officer the team had ever allowed but her abilities and technique were recognized and awarded. Dancing competitively led to runway modeling and eventually to acting in commercials (Chuck E Cheese, Lactaid, Padre Staples Mall, Global Life Insurance, Interest Bank) as she was represented by Marquee Talent Agency. Andrea received the title of Little Miss Texas 1992-1993 as well as performed in a number of musicals at Casa Manana, (Miracle on 34th Street, Evita, South Pacific and Ruthless to name a few).

Alongside being a very busy working actress, Andrea always made time to sing at church, school, community events and to continue her love of dance. From the ages of 9-12, she studied under the instruction of Kathleen Steiner at TRINITY BALLET where her concentration was not only Ballet but also 2 years of Pointe.

In high school, Andrea was part of the Keller High School Award winning Keller Indianettes, where she won titles in Small Group and duet performances as well as the title of National High Kick Champions in 1999 at Nationals in FL.

Although an active dancer in school, she also found time for Tribe, a 12 girl show choir that performed at school functions and events for the city of Keller as well as she was heavily involved in Theatre Arts where she was a Drama Club Member, and elected to be part of Thespian Troupe #4169 after countless hours of training/performance credits (Once Upon A Mattress, The Boyfriend, Little Moon of Alban, etc.)

Upon graduation, she found herself studying Musical Theatre at Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, MA. During her time there, she was under the instruction of accomplished Theatre professors, Eunice Ferriera, Misti Wills, Abby Labykina and Nat McIntyre who not only taught her more about theatrical performance, but also Technical Theatre. By the time, she graduated with a BA in Communications and Theatre, she had acted in, directed, choreographed, costumed and headed up Make-up Design for shows such as The Music Man, Twelfth Night, A Night of David Ives, Wizard of Oz, Twilight Los Angeles.

After college, Andrea found herself back in Texas where she landed a job assisting/teaching at Southlake Dance Academy alongside Studio A’s very own, Terri Tanner. As a team, there was nothing this dynamic duo couldn’t accomplish in the world of teaching dance to little ones! After Terri was moved in a different direction, Andrea moved into the position of Office Manager for a year. Her experiences and training then led her back to Boston, MA when she was asked to guest choreograph the musical Godspell at her alma mater, ENC.

Since returning home from her fall spent working in Boston, Andrea reconnected with a high school friend and quickly realized she had met her match! She was married in May 2009 and resides in Keller with her very talented, film editor/producer husband and their sweet pup Sammi.

She continues to perform/work in venues across the DFW metroplex including Stage Right Theatre, Runway Theatre, Onstage in Bedford, The Stolen Shakespeare Guild and her home away from home, The Artisan Centre Theatre. Some of her favorite credits to date include Lucille in Meet Me in St. Louis, Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense, Cinderella in Cinderella, Juliet in Shakespeare’s much loved classic Romeo and Juliet, Velma in The Column Award winning West Side Story and Gina Jo in Dearly Beloved and Southern Hospitality.

Other career highlights include a summer internship at The Lambs Theatre in NYC where she was part of a creative team who produced a Summer Showcase including shows such as THE BROADWAY KIDS and The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players. Last spring she was hired as stage manager for Studio A’s THE WEAVING, which was performed at the IAC as well as on Broadway at The Lincoln Center in NYC in June 2010.

Although Miss Andrea LOVES to be in the classroom instilling the love of dance and theatre into your children, she recently joined the Administrative staff as our Full time Client Care Coordinator!

If you call the office throughout the day, chances are it will be Miss Andrea's voice who you will be hearing! If you have any questions regarding registering for classes, scheduling, tuition. attire, recital info, etc. feel free to call/email Andrea and she will be happy to help you!
